August Newsletter from HG Wyndell

Hello Fellow Travelers.

"Let July be July. Let August be August. And let yourself just be even in the uncertainty. You don't have to fix everything. You don't have to solve everything. And you can still find peace and grow in the wild of changing things.”

— Morgan Harper Nichols

Not to be too navel gazing and I am deep in contemplations of becoming. Things in my world are shifting and changing, chronic health has been keeping me intimately accountable, demanding an immediacy of presence that puts limits on my future planning. Planning for new events has shifted focus, thinking about longer, slower forms of engagement. Thinking about how to build connections that have depth and flexibility to accommodate emergent realities.

I am incredibly thankful that many of these deep thinkings can happen in nature, thanks to the efforts of my beloveds. I have gotten to spend time with several rivers, Lake Michigan, and before long, Lake Superior. On our visit to Lake Michigan the water had turned over from the deep, meaning that while the air was about 80°F/27°C the water was only 55°F/13°C. There are few things that can clear all other thoughts from my head than dunking myself in water cold enough to have things go numb. It wasn’t quite an ice bath, and it was close. Laying on the sand drying, feeling the sun (thankfully the wildfire smoke had cleared), listening to laughing gulls and children, I was able to just be for a while.

I hope that you can just be for a while. That you can be present with what is emerging as things grow and change.

Food for Thought and Inspiration:

  • In the interest of continuing education I have been educating myself around how stories shape culture and the way we talk about our lives. Below are some resources I have been leaning on in the last few months, each of them comes at how stories transmit culture from a different angle:

Support. Follow. Share.

  • Book with me for coaching, divination, and consulting time.

May your roads be kind, and your landings soft.

Warmly,

July 2026 Hello Fellow Travelers. June was a month for traveling. One of the anchors for this time was the Grief and Eros ritual (https://www.embodymorelove.com/villageritual), I am still digesting the immensity of this experience. It truly feels like one of those “life before this point and life after this point” moments. Moments of my life from my life, including profound experiences of the last ten years wove through in unexpected ways, moments of connection with the humans, profound...

Hello Fellow Travelers. Last month took me to the Primal Arts Festival in northern Maryland for the first time. I must say, there is something truly special that happens when you get large groups of people together for ritual, drumming, and fire in the woods for a few nights. The weather mostly cooperated with us, thankfully it wasn’t as cold or wet as originally forecasted. I have been to other events in the area later in the summer, so adjusting to needing more warm clothes took a bit of...

Hello Fellow Travelers. April brought showers to my world, literally. Lines of powerful storms stretched from Texas all the way north to my home in Michigan. Early in the month every river in Michigan hit flood stage from all the rain. A small but significant flood happened in our home’s basement as the ground water welled up and tending to that clean up has occupied many of the resources in our household since. Now we are hitting the growing time here, the red elder trees in the low lying...
