Corrections! Somehow it is October from HG Wyndell

Thank you to the subscriber who send me a heads up about the incorrect date and link for the November online workshops!

Hello Autumn,

I am truly feeling the turning of the year into deeper autumn. The leaves are going thoroughly red and gold right now, though the drought we are in has some trees dropping leaves faster than normal. A few weeks ago I had the privilege of spending a few days at a friend’s cottage on Lake Huron, where the sound of waves followed me throughout my day. Thick foggy mornings, beautiful sunsets, sunny walks along the water, and reading curled up in the shade of a birch tree fed my spirit.

I appreciate the patience of folks for this letter. Major health challenges have been rolling through for several beloveds, and I am spending much of my energy supporting the necessary transitions. I don’t know much of what next month will bring, and I am going forward one day at a time.

Coming this month:

  • October 19th, I will be teaching Conversations with the Runes in Lansing at Keys to Manifestation. Tickets here: https://manifestlansing.com/store/conversations-with-the-runes-monthly-workshop-with-hg-wyndell
  • October 22nd, Spicy Tarot Come and join a discussion on how we can mix the art of tarot with our kinky adventures. Online with Wicked Grounds. Tickets are available here: https://forbiddentickets.com/events/wicked-grounds/2025-10-22-online-spicy-tarot
  • Month four of the Introduction to the Northern Tradition: Finding Your Fire is live! Kenn (https://www.patreon.com/c/RuneWalker) and I are learning so much as we make the recordings for this course. The course is set up as a series of videos, readings, and guided prompts with opportunities for feedback and interaction. Enrolment is available in an ongoing manner at: https://payhip.com/b/c3jRF . It is wild to me that this project is out in the world. We are currently recording months 5, 6, and 7 of the program and I am SUPER excited about it.
  • I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has donated thus far to the GoFundMe towards my medical bills. The first bill has been paid off. The Funds are currently helping handle monthly payments on the medical debt so that I can focus on teaching and writing work. If you are able to share or contribute the link to the campaign is here: https://gofund.me/b79abbfb

Teasers for future events:

Event from last month that I wanted to share:

  • September 12-15 I was able to attend (like with no teaching responsibilities!) a festival in Vermont called Thrymskaper to deep dive into sacred music and ritual. One of the things I am immensely grateful for is the opportunity to keep learning, to experience how other folks do ritual. For more information on this event you can go here (https://www.thrymskaprdrums.com/) and see what they have planned for next year. The experience was truly magical and the facilitators were amazing, you can find more about them here:

Brain and Spirit Food This Month:

  • When No Thing Works: A Zen and Indigenous Perspective on Resilience, Shared Purpose, and Leadership in the Timeplace of Collapse by Norma Wong
    • This felt like one of those books that I am going to be moving with for years. The story-lessons do that fabulous thing that good art does, where the longer you look at it, the more details emerge. The poetry feels like medicine in the best of ways, it helped me to feel some hope as we move through these times.
  • Our Roots Run Deep album by Dominique Fils-Aimé
  • Embers of the Hands: Hidden Histories of the Viking Age by Eleanor Rosamund Barraclough
    • I appreciated the readability of this book. The author does a fabulous job of bringing our attention to parts of history that are often overlooked. It is history told using archeology, story, literature, enthusiasm, and a delightful sense of humor.

Thank you for being here.

Warmly,

HG

Hello Fellow Travelers. April brought showers to my world, literally. Lines of powerful storms stretched from Texas all the way north to my home in Michigan. Early in the month every river in Michigan hit flood stage from all the rain. A small but significant flood happened in our home’s basement as the ground water welled up and tending to that clean up has occupied many of the resources in our household since. Now we are hitting the growing time here, the red elder trees in the low lying...

Hello all, Spring is tantalizingly close here in Michigan. The weather has turned, turned back, done a few cartwheels, and thrown a few curve-balls over the last two months. Here, as March is closing out, the snowdrops are almost spent, the wood violets are just getting going. The air is full of calling geese, sandhill cranes, and arguing cardinals. I have heard the spring peeper frogs a few times, between freezes and thunderstorms. As I am writing, the wren in the bush next to my window is...

Hello all, I am landing at home after my adventures teaching with Kenn in Utah, followed by time in Portland, Oregon connecting with heart-family. The Gather, Glean, and Grow workshop feels like a huge success. We were not entirely sure what the weekend would bring, since there were so many new moving parts (teaching together, new material, new venue) and it came together in ways that we couldn’t have predicted. Turns out that we didn’t need to be worried about filling 2 ½ days, all of our...
